Geysa Flores, PhD

I have over 20 years of clinical experience and currently specialize in working with distracted, unhappy, and overwhelmed teens and adults.

Growing up in South Florida, I was surrounded by a strong Cuban American community, where Spanish was spoken in the home and English was used at school and to talk to friends. These early life experiences helped me learn firsthand the hardships faced by families in adjusting to a new way of life after immigrating to the US.

Raised with a strong work ethic, I did well academically and earned a scholarship to attend the University of Miami. As a young adult, I found myself curious about human behavior and often thinking about what makes people do what they do. In studying psychology, I became captivated in learning about resilience and the power of the human spirit.

I continued my studies and earned a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology at the University of Toledo. I gathered more direct knowledge about the minority experience and became passionate about working with disenfranchised populations. This led to my interest in juvenile delinquency and I completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, Law and Psychiatry Program.

I then obtained my license as a psychologist in 2004 while working in Massachusetts with mostly children and families involved with state agencies. I specialized in working with children and teens that were impacted by trauma and struggled with severe emotional and behavioral problems. Despite my so-called expert status in topics of childhood development and parenting principles, it wasn’t until becoming a parent myself that I developed a true understanding of the joy and never-ending challenges of helping children thrive.

I later relocated to Georgia, where I obtained additional licensure in 2013 and started my own private practice. Today I focus on helping overwhelmed and distracted parents and teens struggling with the demands of modern life to transform chaos into calm and reclaim joy in their daily lives.
